Resort description

Les Houches is a typical mountain village with traditional Savoyard scenery. There are a number of pleasant bars and good restaurants for quiet evenings out and buses run regularly in and out of the cosmopolitan nearby town of Chamonix all evening. Its friendly relaxed atmosphere provides a great base for families. It is also ideal for those wishing to explore the rest of the legendary valley.


Skiing in Les Houches

 

The run of the “Touchet” offers the opportunity to practice night skiing every Thursday for free. The resort is equipped with 3 ski jumps (15, 30 and 50m).

 

Snowboarding in Les Houches

Snowboarders will find a snowpark and a boarder cross.

 

Cross country skiing

 

Les Houches has 10km/6.2 miles of trails. The itineraries are located at 1000m of altitude and some other at 1800m. The Nordic centre of “Les Houches” welcomes and advises cross-country skiers. There are also trails in Servoz. (Village located next to Les Houches)

 

Snowshoe walks

 

There are 4 different itineraries in “Les Houches” and 4 itineraries in “Servoz” to enjoy in snowshoes.

 

Cross country skiing

 

Avoriaz has 45 km/28 miles of trails.

The ski area Portes du Soleil” has 243 km/ 151 miles of trails.

 

Ski school

 

 

The ESF in Les Houches offers a variety of lessons of alpine skiing, snowboard, cross-country skiing, mono-skiing and telemark

 

The “Jardin des neiges” will welcome youngsters (from 4 years old) who desire to get familiarized with the skiing sensations.

Lift passes

 

Les Houches lift passes give you access to the resort of “Les Houches”.However, you can also get a “Mont Blanc Unlimited” lift pass which gives access to all the resorts in the Mont Blanc Valley: Les Houches, Chamonix, Le Brévent, La Flégère, Le Tour, Vallorcine, Argentière, Lognan, Aiguille des Grands Montets and Aiguille du Midi.

 

The Skiing
The quiet ski area of Les Houches offers 50km of ski runs accessible to all. It is particularly suited to beginners with magnificent panoramas over the Mont Blanc mountain range. Expert skiers will just love the incomparable slopes and challenging range of skiing, whereas Les Planards and the Savoy area at the foot of the Brevent area, are popular for gentle nursery slopes within easy reach of Chamonix. The Vallee Blanche descent is skied with a guide and provides 24kms of unforgettable skiing in stunning scenery. The domain of Les Houches extends from an altitude of 950m to 1900m. From the summit one has a spectacular 360° view of the Mont-Blanc massive, and with pistes meandering through the forests, you will discover the real pleasures of skiing. When necessary, artificial snow coverage is assured by 67 snow canons covering 19 hectares.
Après Ski
The restaurants of Les Houches and Servoz welcome you in the town and in the mountains. You will find all types of cuisine and of course the delicious Savoyard specialities of fondue, raclette, tartiflette and farcement. For those seeking a more lively night spot nearby Chamonix has plenty going on throughout the night, while neighbouring Argentiere is more relaxed and more informal.

The resort offers a crèche taking children from 3 months to 3 years and a day nursery taking those from 3-10 years along with a choice of ski schools. Les Houches also provides other amenities one would expect in resort, a post office, library, chemist, range of sports shops, bakery, laundry, supermarket, newsagents, hairdressers and a bank
Activities
Les Houches offers a range of alternative activities to skiing. Why not experience The Alps from the sky by paragliding or a helicopter tour. You could try dog sledging or take a horse drawn sleigh ride, enjoy an afternoon on the ice rink, play ice hockey or visit the adventure park, climbing wall, or St. Bernard Kennel.
