Why we love Sainte Foy!

image Tuesday, 10, August, 2021

Sainte Foy is not as big as the neighbouring resorts of Val D’Isère, Tignes, and Les Arcs but we think this is what makes it perfect, and it's often described as one of the 'best-kept secrets in the Alps'. Home to the quiet slopes nestled among the trees, Sainte Foy has a multitude of reasons as to why guests return, but here are our reasons why we love this pretty resort.

Attractive and peaceful setting

This really is the resort for that relaxing getaway you've been dreaming of, with a seamless blend of old and new. Famous for the vast amounts of quiet and untouched powder slopes, Sainte Foy is a northwest-facing resort meaning powder stays around for a while and is sheltered by trees. Despite the quiet nature of this resort, there is still a good variety for all abilities; with nursery slopes for beginners and fantastic off-piste opportunities for intermediates.

Family-friendly

Sainte Foy is a great resort for families; beginners can benefit from learning in a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle of the big resorts. Parents will enjoy peace of mind with Sainte Foy's funnel-shaped terrain leading all the slopes of the ski area back to the resort centre. For the extra little ones that aren't quite slope-ready yet, this resort has a creche for those under 4 years and a non-ski creche for up to 11 years. We recommend families taking a break from the slopes and visiting the “Natur’Marmotte” area, at the intersection of the slopes of Chapelle and Grand Solliet (above the departure station for the Marquise chairlift). You can visit this sunny area without skis to have fun learning all about marmots and raising children’s awareness about protecting the environment!

Top winter activities

There is a real range of activities for you and the family to enjoy. Explore beyond the marked runs with off-piste skiing, discover exceptional areas among the peaks with ski touring, experience the exhilaration and adrenaline rush of ski racing, ski between the fir trees on the Natur’Renard trail, or ride a free toboggan run on the Galopins village slope. Would you believe us if we told you this is just a taster of the activities?!

Beautiful accommodation

Ski Collection offers self-catered accommodation in this small alpine resort. The 4-star Les Fermes de Sainte Foy apartments are located in the heart of the village, hugely convenient for being close to the shops and resort centre. Make the most of the spa facilities including an indoor heated swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and fitness room. Alternatively, take in the beautiful views of the resort at the 4-star Le Ruitor. These self-catered apartments with stunning views also have relaxing facilities, including an indoor heated swimming pool, saunas, steam room, and fitness room.

The history

Sainte Foy celebrates 30 years of being developed this season! Sainte Foy was once a village that needed some love, residents were leaving and it was becoming isolated. One group of people that had lots of ideas for this beautiful community and believed it could be a success decided to come together to save Sainte Foy. The goal was for the people of Sainte Foy to work in Sainte Foy, which remains consistent today. This little team were so determined for it to be a success that they opened without authorization! Despite the initial struggle, in the early 2000s, the resort finally evolved into the magnificent hidden gem that we know it today.
