The ski resort
Set in the Portes du Soleil (gateway to the sun) skiing area Avoriaz is a purpose built resort close to the Swiss border. Avoriaz shares this extensive ski area (650km of pistes) with 12 other resorts including Morzine, Chatel and Les Gets. Being part of such a big ski domain Avoriaz skiing suits all levels of skiers.
From its height of 1800m, Avoriaz offers fantastic scenery of the surrounding mountains. Avoriaz differs from other resorts in that it is a fully pedestrianised ski resort which uses horse drawn sleighs and carts in order to transport people and luggage to the residences.
