Saint Lary

Resort description

Saint Lary is a large traditional Pyrenean resort, located in the Hautes-Pyrenees. It is an authentic Pyrenean village, but up-to-date with facilities such as new lifts and snow cannons which were recently added. The resort is linked by road or cable car to altitude stations at La Cabane, the larger Pla d'Adet and Espiaule making it one of the most important ski centres in the French Pyrenees.

The resort is approved by Ski France’s ‘Famille Plus Montagne’ for winter and summer. It is committed to offering the very best amenities and activities for children’s enjoyment. Before skiing, the resort was famous for it healing waters which contain sulphur and sodium. These thermal springs have been renowned since antiquity and are still accessible today.

Ski School

 

The ESF in Saint Lary offer group and private ski and snowboard lessons to adults and children (5-12 years for ski and 8 years + for snowboard).

 

The Piou-Piou childrens club is located in the snow garden and offers fun and safe snow activities as well as skiing to 4 year olds (3 year olds could possibly have private lessons, please enquire).

The Skiing
The ski area caters for all levels of skiers, with beautiful green and blue pistes, moguls slaloms and a great snow park along with a huge variety of red pistes for intermediates to cruise. The resort installed two new lifts for the 2006-07 Season including the six seater Adet chair which replaces the previous drag lift.
Après Ski
Saint Lary is the après ski capital of the central Pyrenees. It boasts a great selection of bars and nightclubs open all night long along with a good choice of cafes with breathtaking views. There are a wide choice of restaurants with French, Spanish and international cuisines to suit everyone's taste.
Amenities
There are many souvenir shops, supermarkets and local shops, bakeries, chemists, newsagents and a post office. Saint Lary also provides a choice of ski schools crèches and babysitting facilities.
Activities
Visitors who want a break from skiing can experience dog sledging, paragliding, snow mobiling or relax in the famous Thermal Baths. There is also the opportunity to go ice skating, bungee tramp lining and for the kids to join in on the weekly snowman competition.

Driving distance: From Calais: 695 miles, approximately 10 hrs 20 mins.
Airport access: Lourdes Pyrenees: 50 miles approximately 1 hr. Pau: 78 miles, approximately 1 hr 30 mins. Toulouse: 100 miles, approximately 2 hrs.
