| Resort description |
Les Deux Alpes is located high up in the beautiful Dauphine region of the Northern Alps. This well known high altitude ski resort offers an excellent choice of restaurants, bars, nighclubs and shops.
The resort is surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery and lies alongside the main slopes on both sides, so there is always a lift nearby. Les Deux Alpes has an excellent snow record and the glacier means you can even ski here during the summer. There are amazing views from the Glacier over the Briancon valley and to the rugged Ecrins mountains.

The
bustling resort centre is a mile long narrow stretch,
offering an impressive selection of restaurants,
bars, night clubs and shops all in one place. The
varied après-ski scene caters for all
ages.
Facilities
within the resort include a heated outdoor swimming
pool, outdoor ice rink, sports centre, a tanking
centre with flotarium,
sauna and Turkish baths.
The
charming village of Venosc is well worth a visit.
It has a direct 8 minute gondola to Les Deux
Alpes.
Les
Deux
Alpes is only just over an
hours drive from Grenoble (74 miles).

Skiing in Les Deux
Alpes and Oisans
The
ski area is well suited to all standards of
skiers/boarders and most are above treeline.
Beginners
will enjoy the magnificent views from the top of the
glacier with wide easy runs or the nursery slopes
beside the village. There are 7 lifts free for all on
the lower slopes of Les Deux
Alpes.
Intermediates
are well catered for with a good array of blues and
reds.
The
top Glacier du Mont de Lans area has some easy slopes
with nice views. You can go from the top down to Mont
de Lans (a descent of
2270m vertical, possibly the world’s biggest
on-piste
vertical).
The
extensive off-piste terrain is huge (5 different
domains) and challenging. There is a good selection
of serious routes with vertical drops.
For
the more adventurous, an outing to the slopes of La
Grave is a must (guide necessary). 2 Alpes is reached by snowcat from the top of the ski
area to the 3568m Dome de la Lauze or a short walk.
A
new fast 6-seater has replaced older chairlift below
Tete
Moute. The Pied Moutet ski area has been vastly
improved with a fast new 4-seater chairlift for
skiing in Les Deux
Alpes. However there is no
chairlink lift from Bons from winter 09/10.

Snowboarding in Les Deux
Alpes
Les
2 Alpes ranks amongst
France’s best for snowboarding. At
mid-mountain, there are two boarder-cross courses and
a big terrain-park including half-pipe and higher up
there are several innovative terrain features such as
ledges, gullies, canyons, all of competition
standard.
Free-riding in Les Deux
Alpes
There are
numerous spots where free-riding is possible
including the famous Vallons de la Meije with its 2150m of
variations in altitude and as you can imagine scenery
to match!
Every week
from January to end of April there will be free-ride
talks, safety sessions and a free free-riding try-out
with a guide.
Freestyle in Les Deux
Alpes
Slide
zones – between 2600m and 3200m: canyons,
cornices, cascades…also a SNOWPARK shaped by
pros: half-pipe, axe-pipe, big air, slope style, hand
rail, 3 “Park Bullies”, 1 free cross and
2 boardercross.
The
terrain park is located in the Toura run and is easily one of
the top parks in Europe and it’s not just for
experts. Beginners have areas to try their skills on.
The park is 800m long and has an impressive
super-pipe. DJs regularly play music and there is a
BBQ & chill out area.

Cross Country Skiing in Les Deux
Alpes
There are
2 marked tracks through the woods.
Linked to
Les Deux
Alpes by cable car, the Valley
of Veneon (Venosc) is an untouched natural
area with 3 marked tracks from 3km to 24km.

Ski Schools in Les Deux
Alpes
There
are two ski schools in Les Deux
Alpes, the ESF (Ecole de Ski Francais) and the ESS (European
Ski School). Both offer skiing and snowboarding
lessons for adults and children.
You
can either have group lessons or private
lessons.
For
young children the ESF has a Kindergarten.

Lift Passes in Les Deux Alpes and Oisans
Children
under five and seniors over 72 receive a FREE lift
pass
Proof
of age will be required for reduced price
passes.
The
Super Ski Les Deux Alps
ski passes also allow you to ski on the other Grande
Galaxie domains (L’Alpe d’Huez,
Serre
Chevailer, Puy-Saint Vincent,
Italian Milky Way). Also included is free
entrance to the Ice Rink and swimming pool.
Compulsory
€2/pass deposit for hands free pass to pay
locally for Les Deux
Alpes ski passes. Deposit
refunded to you when hand back pass at end of stay
(undamaged). No photo necessary.

Les Deux Alpes is a very lively resort. This ski resort has 62 restaurants, from budget Italian to 4 star classic French, so all tastes will be catered for. There are 9 mountain restaurants open 7 days a week and these can be found at all the major lift junctions. Les Deux Alpes nightlife: over 30 bars & 2 nightclubs. Les Deux Alpes 1800 has a further selection of bars, restaurants and shops.

| Many activities can be enjoyed in Les Deux Alpes: open air heated swimming-pool (with 3 baths, incl a paddling pool), Olympic sized ice-rink, two sports centres with indoor pool, squash court, gym), bowling, cinema, donkey farm with Ski-joering (let yourself be pulled along on skis by a donkey or mule), library, snowshoeing, ice climbing (on ice waterfalls), paragliding, climbing, quad biking, ice-skating, ice grotto, the 'white cruise' (discover the glacier on a tracked minibus), snow scooters and ice-driving. |
