Ski Collection’s Ski Holiday Recommendations

What Our Team Say…..

We feel that it is important that all the team at Ski Collection have an understanding of our range of resorts and accommodation and it is for this reason that we send our team on regular familiarisation trips, so they can share their experiences with our clients - in turn we feel that this gives you a better service.

We have asked some of our team to come up with their favourite resorts and residences.

Hayley – La Plagne

Hayley in La Plagne“I was lucky enough to go skiing in La Plagne two seasons ago and to be honest I still find myself wanting to talk to others about my experience!

The Paradiski area has so much to offer and a weeks visit certainly wasn't enough - although I had a good try! It boasts over 425km of piste, with glacier skiing and various snowparks including boarder cross and half-pipes, and not to forget the AWESOME Vanoise Express Gondola that links La Plagne to Les Arcs  in  just four minutes...now that's impressive!

Staying at MGM's luxury 4* residenceLes Granges du Soleil was also truly a lovely experience. The three perfectly situated Savoyard style chalets are all finished to very high standard, which you'd expect from a classy hotel and have everything you could possibly need. There is a heated swimming pool, and a Spa & Beauty centre on location with treatments to die for...what more does a girl need after a hard day hitting the piste? Beer perhaps?

The Plagne Soleil region is pretty low key and provides a great location for all.  The car-free village square, has two fantastic restaurants, a take away pizzeria, two bars, a fully-stocked Spar supermarket and an ESF ski school meeting point - all of which I can recommended and are within walking distance from the Les Granges du Soleil.

Without any doubt, La Plagne would provide a fantastic experience for skiers of all abilities - from novices to the hardened veteran! There's really something for everyone at this place and I can't wait to go back and have some more fun!”

Toni - Flaine

Toni in FlaineFlaine is a great resort and is ideal for those who prefer a short transfer or drive. I learnt to ski in Flaine and pre-booked my lessons through ESF who are fun, friendly and reliable. If you are not a beginner you can still enjoy the 265km of the Grand Massif pistes. I was also lucky enough to see an alpine Marmot which are not commonly seen and can only be found in high Altitude resorts.

I stayed at the Montsoleil residence which offers you to ski in/out, however, I would recommend that if you are a complete beginner to use the free shuttle bus provided to take you to the slopes. The apartments, facilities and staff are great here and you will be guaranteed a comfortable stay and also fantastic views of the valley or the pine tree forest.

Eating out in Flaine isn't expensive, I would recommend restaurants La Grange, Lacabane and the Pizzeria Chez Pierrot. And if you just want a few drinks you can take a trip to the Le White Pub located in Flaine Forum, it has a great atmosphere and a wide selection of drinks to choose from.

I had a great experience here and would recommend Flaine to everyone, I love it!!!”

Marion – La Toussuire

Marion in La Toussuire"I fell in love with La Toussuire when I visited the resort last year, It was charming and the views of the Maurienne Massif took my breath away.

I had a great time staying in the Chalet Goelia residence which is composed of 10 typical wooden chalets each housing 9 apartments and is located at the entrance of La Toussuire. The residence represents excellent value for money and is perfectly located at the foot of the slopes, the ski shop is within close distance and there is even a ski bus service provided for ESF taking beginners to the meeting point.

For the others who are not beginners, you still have a free shuttle bus which takes you to the centre every 5 minutes and the bus stop is facing the residence Les Chalets de Goelia.

There is this famous "Rue Blanche" in La Toussuire where you will find all the amenities like pubs and restaurants but also the ice rink, the tourist office and shops….I found it really convenient and warm to have this main lively street where everybody seems to meet for their Après-ski!

The residence was really nice and well equipped, comfortable & had a lovely balcony with a view onto the slopes and towards the mountains.

I would also suggest the restaurant called the Alpage located just a little further down the road from the residence which was fantastic. They offer typical Savoyard cuisine and a great range of wines!

You can be a complete beginner or a confident expert skier, as the Sybelles skiing area will offer you all the possibilities to enjoy one of the largest skiable domains in France with 310km of piste between 1800m (village altitude) and 2620m.

I hope you will enjoy your time in La Toussuire as I did and Bonne Vacances to everyone!”

Cindy – Saint Lary

Cindy in Saint Lary“I have never been skiing in the Pyrenees before; last February was my very first time. I really wish I did it much earlier. I fell in love with the resort ‘Saint Lary’, it’s my “chouchou” as we say in French (translation: “my favourite!”) and I cannot help myself talking about it to those that will listen. Not only does Saint Lary offer all the charm of a traditional Pyrenees village but it also offers all the best of a leading ski resort. A very good skiing area with 100km of piste, amazing views and suitable for any level of skier or snowboarder. I had the great privilege to be invited to ski with Max Hardy (British Skier Cross Athlete, and now the British Senior Indoor Champion) and his coach. They both really enjoy the ski domain and were planning to do some ski cross training there.

Saint Lary, the resort itself has quite a lot to offer for après-ski, a good range of quality restaurants, pubs and more. On the ‘pampering and relaxing side’ Saint Lary is known for its thermal baths, and wellness centre...

I was also amazed by the high standard accommodation given the very cheap deals we are able to offer. I stayed in the Cami Real residence, located in the village centre.  It was simply brilliant, a very well equipped apartment and kitchen all for myself and as if that was not enough you get a free access to an indoor heated swimming pool, a fitness room with sauna, whirlpools and steam rooms. I am now day dreaming and the only thing I am longing for is to go back to Saint Lary as soon as possible!!!!”
