The best resorts in France for snowboarding

image Wednesday, 08, May, 2019

French resorts work hard to ensure that that their ski areas work well for both skiers and snowboarders. You'll find the best snow parks and powder, wide groomed runs, fabulous off-piste and dedicated snowboarding lessons!

We have put together a shortlist of our favourite resorts for snowboarding and with so many brilliant high-altitude, high-quality resorts to choose from, this did cause a bit of debate at Ski Collection HQ. Thinking of boarding elsewhere? Need some advice? Give our award-winning French Alps experts a call on 023 9289 0960 and we can help you shred!

Snowboarding in Les 2 Alpes

TIGNES

I'm sure seeing the former home to the European X-games, Tignes, on the list isn't a surprise, but fear not, there are areas geared towards intermediates, not just the extreme riders! It has something for all tastes from easy-access open powder fields, cruisey piste riding and of course, freeriding. And don't forget, Val d'Isere is just a short board away...

Where to stay:  Le Nevada, Tignes Val Claret.  150m from the ski slopes and 300m from the après-ski!

LES 2 ALPES

With one of the best (if not THE best!) snowparks in Europe, Les 2 Alpes is a mecca for boarders. The whole Toura area is amazing; you'll find big air kickers, quarter pipes and full-sized superpipes. Plenty of bars with a great vibe around the park and on the mountain too. And let's not forget the La Grave area for some of the most challenging high altitude terrain in Europe!  With everyone heading down to the valley as the lifts close there's a welcoming party vibe.

Where to stay: Goleon Val Ecrin. 50m from the Petite Aiguille slope and the free resort ski bus stops are right next to the residence and links to the Jandri Express lift and the main restaurant area.

ALPE D'HUEZ

There is so much amazing and varied terrain you're not going to get bored in Alpe d'Huez. This place is big but as much for the novice as it is for the advanced rider. First timers, early intermediates or mini-shredders will find some of the finest beginner’s areas here! It's an all-rounder resort which is popular at SC HQ.

Where to stay: Le Cristal de l'Alpe is ideally located in the heart of the resort, 200m from the slopes and just 50m from the nearest ski lifts!
