10 things to do in Les Arcs this season

If you want to be in a resort at the heart of the action, one that has plenty of runs (there’s 425km of piste) and has lots to do off the slopes, Les Arcs could be the perfect resort for you!

 

At a Glance

Les Arcs - situated in the Savoie region of the Northern French Alps forms part of the massive Paradiski ski area (made up of three main resorts; Les Arcs, La Plagne and Peisey Vallandry). Les Arcs itself is made up of four ski resorts: Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000 – all developed with superb winter skiing and enjoyment in mind. Les Arcs as a whole has been awarded the ‘P'tits Montagnards’ label which guarantees high-quality facilities for children and their parents on holiday in the mountains.

This season the resort celebrates its 50th anniversary, meaning that even more exciting events and activities are planned throughout 2018 and 2019! We have selected our top picks from a mix of one-time events to returning favourites for you to discover…

 

Les Fondus du ski, 15th and 16th December 2018

To celebrate the season opening weekend on 15th December this unique 2-day event combines skiing and French gastronomy, with an alpine classic – fondue! The full programme for this year is yet to be released, but looking at last year’s this event is not to be missed, with several fondue tasting sessions across different areas of the resort as well as other activities such as Human bowling to try out!

Les Arcs Film Festival, 15th to 22nd December 2018

This fantastic film festival, which celebrates the best European films and filmmakers has been going for 10 years now, and shows more than 120 features over the course of the week as well as concerts, DJ sets and a ski race! This year's edition has been organised in partnership with the Polish Film Institute offering everyone a wonderful cultural experience!

50 Years Party, 26th December 2018

Les Arcs was built from scratch in 1968 and to celebrate the resort is organising a whole host of events to mark the occasion. A party is being held on 26th December to begin the celebrations in front of La Coupole in Arc 1600. Browse all of the main events for the 50th anniversary on the event page

Night Skiing in Les Arcs 1950 & 2000

Every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the season, enjoy the excitement of skiing at night! The Marmottes piste is opened up and the run below floodlit to allow you to continue to ski into the night. It's included in your lift pass and is available from 17:00 to 18:30.

Sledging at Rodeo Park

The Rodeo Park in Les Arcs offers fantastic sledging fun. At the top of the Col de Chal you can make your way down the new 3km long toboggan track with a 400m vertical drop, enjoying the thrills and excitement of every twist and turn! Wellness Areas

Give yourself a pamper and relax at a wellness centre! Facilities at Le Village in Arc 1950 include free access to the outdoor heated swimming pool, steam room, Jacuzzi, sauna and fitness room. Twice a week there are aqua-gym and zumba sessions. There is also the 'Deep Nature Spa' offering various massages and treatments.

Igloo Village

Make your dream come true and come and see the biggest Igloo Village in the French Alps and its ice cave! The ‘Grotte de Glace’ ice cave is not to be missed: at the beginning of each season dozens of sculptors from all over Europe spend a week carving amazing figures out of the ice and snow.

Mille8

This après-ski area is full of experiences and activities to try out! From an aquatic centre, to a snow sports area, and Le Lodge with a restaurant, snack bar and dance floor. Mille8 is served by the brand new dedicated Villards gondola, and remains accessible every day until at least 7.30pm. Take a look at the map.

Dog sledding

Helicopter rides and heli-skiing

The Helimountains helicopter base is located next to Arc 1950. They offer amazing helicopter rides over the Paradiski ski area and exciting heli-ski outings with two drops on Italy’s most beautiful peaks, a meal in a restaurant and the flight back to the resort (supervised by a professional mountain guide).
