Where to ski next winter

image Friday, 06, March, 2020

For those looking forward to the next winter season in the French Alps, we have our top picks of high-altitude resorts to choose between. Ski the Tarentaise, explore the Isère, and enjoy the large ski areas of Paradiski and 3 Vallées! Take a look at our selection below, including some brand new accommodation...

La Rosière

La Rosiere Espace San Bernardo

With 198km of slopes in the San Bernardo ski domaine, La Rosière is a great resort choice for those wanting to stay in the Tarentaise region of the Alps. There are 81 slopes in total, with a good variety of different level runs, all located between 1850m and 2800m altitude. The recently added Mont Valaisan area opened up even more of the ski area to explore, with an additional 5 red runs, 2 6-seater chairlifts, and plenty more freeriding opportunities.

The brand-new 4-star self-catered apartments at the luxury Alpen Lodge are due to open for December 2020. They will be located in the Quartier des Eucherts area, close to the ski slopes (with the opportunity to ski back to the residence). The main chair lift and ESF ski school meeting point will also be nearby. The residence will offer luxurious apartments, modern facilities and access to an indoor heated pool. A hot tub, sauna, steam room and fitness room are all also planned.

Alpe d'Huez

Alpe d'Huez in the Isère region of the French Alps is a great choice throughout the winter season. With linked access to the other ski resorts in the area such as Vaujany and Oz-en-Oisans, Alpe d'Huez is a great base for exploring the Grand Domaine ski area. The resort also offers great high-altitude skiing with a top height of 3330m! Skiers can appreciate the magnificence of the French Alps from the Pic Blanc summit, and enjoy the longest black run in Europe along the Sarenne slope.

La Plagne

With access to the large Paradiski ski area and linked to many other major resorts in the area, La Plagne is an all-round great destination choice for a winter break! The resort is made up of several different villages all located between 1800m and 2050m and a top height of 3250m (meaning that the winter season usually runs from mid December to late April)! With great transport access from Bourg-St-Maurice and links to Les Arcs, La Plagne is very accessible and offers fantastic skiing on some 425km of piste! Of the slopes, there is much to keep everyone entertained, from an Olympic bobsled track to Zip lining, and a even ride in a piste-basher, there are definitely some unique experiences to be had!
