Read all about the staff visit to Peisey Vallandry & La Rosiere

Arriving in Geneva in the morning, we sought car hire from Geneva airport on the Swiss side of the airport. We set off down the motorway for a three hour drive to the Tarentaise Valley area of the Northern Alps. Zigzagging up the mountain (with a couple of breathtaking moments) the Ski Collection team took in the beautiful surrounding forests and river view and arrived at Peisey Vallandry in the middle of a mountainous thunderstorm.

Arriving in Peisey Vallandry, I could tell that this resort was mainly an untouched authentic mountain village, which remains a quiet & traditional farming village in between two purpose built resorts Les Arcs & La Plagne linked by the Vanoise Expess to allow easy access to large ski terrain. We visited L'Oree des Cimes and L'Oree des Neiges, both MGM built properties in Peisey Village. L'Oree des Cimes has 110 traditional apartments in a convenient location for family ski as it is on the edge of the slopes, close to the Grizzli Chairlift and a Ski Set for equipment hire, with the village of Vallandry is 300m away. L'Oree des Neiges is a new generation boutique and exclusive feeling residence with 23 stylish & luxury modern apartments, suited to couples. You can use the facilities at L'Oree des Cimes, which is a 2 minute drive away, with Vallandry Village being 300m away, where the chairlift is located (you can ski to the chairlift and is easy for beginners).

That evening, we made our way down the mountain to nearby Nancroix, a tiny hamlet with a row of traditional cottages. Making our way through the overgrown garden, we stepped back in time. L’Ancoalie is set in the front room of a quaint & cosy cottage. We were treated to a homecooked french dinner by our hosts (husband & wife team), as the only guests. However, in the winter the charming dining area gets busy & even caters for weddings. Waking up at L'Oree des Cimes with panoramic views of the Tarentaise, we embarked on an hour drive to La Rosiere.

We passed through the main town of the Tarentaise, Bourg St Maurice. This is a lively & active town, located at the bottom of the slopes and is a gateway to the Tarentaise Valley as the Eurostar and Altibus terminate here. A great base for accessing: Espace Killy, Espace San Bernardo and Paradiski. Arriving in La Rosiere, this is a tastefully developed ski resort. South facing & notoriously sunny on the border of Italy, you can even ski to Italy for Lunch.

La Rosiere is HIGHLY suitable for family ski, with the newly developed Les Eucherts area, being purpose built and therefore has a suitable amount of amenities & facilities that are walking distance from Les Cimes Blanches & Les Balcons de la Rosiere. Les Cimes Blanches is traditional MGM built property with 135 apartments, situated near to the slopes, focused on families and boasts a large O des Cimes Spa. Les Balcons de la Rosiere is below Les Cimes Blanches and boasts 90 apartments ideally catering for group skiing. This is quite a stylish & trendy residence with treebase tables in reception, modern kitchens and wood Burners in larger apartments and a newly built spa boasting a Jacuzzi & sauna surrounded by pebbles, driftwood & bamboo decor. Les Balcons de la Rosiere has great onsite amenities including the La Grange Restaurant and Moo Bar, Ski Food Takeway (finishes at 7pm) and Ski Shop and Rental onsite (Sport 2000).

Taking the forest walkway path to La Rosiere Centre, 1km away, we arrived in La Rosiere Centre where the original tasteful village has a handful of restaurants and bars. Amenities for families continue with a childrens' kintergarden in winter and bike zone in summer very close to the lazy St Bernards and opposite the ski lift. The slopes in La Rosiere centre are spacious, wide slopes therefore safe for beginners. Le Lodge Hemera in the centre of La Rosiere is a is a new generation MGM boutique and exclusive feeling residence, built in 2012/2013. Le Lodge Hemera has 37 modern and stylish apartments spread between 2 chalets with sleek driftwood, slate and stone furnishings with wolfy blankets and crisp white linens. The Spa has red, wood & leather decor , with a black pool area with Blue LED lights in pool, grey mesh loungers and bamboo.

Le Lodge Hemera is ideally situated 50m opposite the ski hire and a selection of eateries and is 150m from the nearest lift & beginner area. Le Refuge is 4* looks small and boutique from the outside, but has 11 luxury large apartments in the residence. The apartments have balconies with awesome views of Sainte Foy. The most unique features of Le Refuge are that there are fireplaces in all rooms, chalet hosts available for catered ski holidays and the 6 bedroom apartment on 2 levels has the LARGEST living area, so large that there is a private sauna in the apartment. Le Refuge is 250m away from slopes and ski lift, 300m away from ESF and the Eucherts centre.
