The name of the hotel means Mountain of Light in Persian, also the name of the renowned diamond in Queen Elizabeth’s crown, and certainly, the architect has successfully transposed the theme of light throughout his design of the hotel, with natural light omnipresent in guest rooms and public areas. Built for the 2015-16 season, the Hotel Pashmina le Refuge is the latest of the resort’s 5* luxury hotels. Located towards the top of the resort in a quiet location, yet just 150m from the resort centre (free shuttle bus service until 9 p.m.), and right on the pistes, offering great ski-in/ski-out convenience (via a red run, so unsuitable for complete beginners and snow depending).
The highly popular 3* Hotel le Sherpa enjoys a wonderful position in the quiet Plein Sud area at the top of Val Thorens (on Rue de Gebroulaz) with spectacular views over the resort and its peaks. Ski convenience is excellent: you put your skis on just 30m from the front door and ski through the resort for about a minute to get to the ski school meeting point (snow and level depending).
