One of the best luxury hotels in the Alps, and the highest at 2364m, the 5* ski-in/ski-out Koh-I Nor is the last word in comfort, service and cuisine: the place to stay for your special holiday in Val Thorens. The views are breathtaking. The Koh-I Nor won the prestigious award for France’s best ski hotel in 2015 and 2016.
The name of the hotel means Mountain of Light in Persian, also the name of the renowned diamond in Queen Elizabeth’s crown, and certainly, the architect has successfully transposed the theme of light throughout his design of the hotel, with natural light omnipresent in guest rooms and public areas. Recommended equally for couples and families.
Facilities at the Koh-I Nor include a 24/7 reception; a huge 800m2 spa, including 2 swimming pools, a fitness room, sauna, Hammam, Jacuzzi, salt wall, ice fountain, sensorial showers, relaxation zone and solarium (massages and beauty treatments are available, payable locally).
Guests have a choice of 3 outstanding restaurants: the gastronomic Atelier d’Eric, serving a superb 5 course half board dinner and à la carte; a second gastronomic restaurant, the Diamant Noir, serves à la carte with specialities based on truffles, as well as a 3 course menu the La Cave specialises in local Savoyard fare (one dinner per week at the Diamant Noir and La Cave is included in the half board package); children’s menus are available.
24H room service (payable locally); the atmospheric lounge/bar with open fireplace offers occasional musical entertainment; the sunny, south-facing panoramic terrace is the perfect place for a well-deserved après ski drink, whilst admiring the exceptional views over the resort and the valley; ski room with heated boot racks; shuttle service within the resort; kids’ games room (unsupervised – closed at certain times, including during conferences); covered car park (payable locally); Baby pack (cot, sleeping bag, bath and thermometer, changing mat, bottle warmer) and choice of baby food in restaurant included on a bed and breakfast basis (other meals payable locally ie. not half board for babies); free loan of pushchairs subject to availability; babysitting service (payable locally).
